Hello, my name is Merle Moustafa. Welcome to my tiny company, Merle’s kitchen.
I am a small local producer of Turkish Delight and other Mediterranean specialities based in Lewes, East Sussex.
I make all my products in small batches by hand, with natural & local seasonal ingredients. All products are based on my Turkish - Cypriot father’s recipes, using traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours, as well as local herbs and flowers to bring a touch of the English countryside to my authentic, traditional treats too! Fresh, handmade Turkish Delight is my speciality. My Turkish Delight has a softer texture than commercially made alternatives and contains no preservatives, so is best eaten as fresh as possible.

I also make Festival Shortbread, a traditional celebration biscuit served at weddings & other festivities throughout Cyprus, Greece & Turkey. Behind a dusting of icing sugar lies a fragrant, melt in the mouth, buttery shortbread.

Baklava, rose sponge, semolina syrup sponges, polenta cake, wedding and birthday cakes also catered for.
Savouries include fragrant harissa, chilli jam, savoury filo pies, flaounes and pide.

To respect the environment I use biodegradable packaging where possible.
All ingredients are sourced locally where possible, all are natural, no additives are used and all are suitable for vegetarians.
